Option 001. Ten Forward: Maybe you intended to end up here. Maybe you were minding your own business when a flash of light took you by surprise, and suddenly here you are! The first thing you see is a bar: a large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights, and sounds.

This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge. On the outside of the curved room, floor-to-ceiling windows give a glorious view of space. The inside wall is where the bar is. Double doors bookend the room on the other two walls, leading out into a clean, white hallway.

Feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 002. The Phaser Range: In need of a place to blow off some steam that doesn't involve a drink? Want to test your shooting skills? The phaser range is for you. It's a darkened room, lit only by a single circular platform which you stand on. Targets of various sizes, from far away points of light to about the size of a human, flash across the walls in varied patterns. It's like skeet shooting, but with lasers.

After every round, the computer tallies your score and accuracy. There's also a two-player mode, if you want to try against a buddy or random stranger. Just remember, the phasers are locked to stun... and if you're with someone, try not to shoot them. Even on stun, it's still going to hurt (no matter how funny it might be to see someone go limp noodle).

THE HANDWAVED / OFF-SCREEN CR MEME

We can't thread out every detail of our characters lives, and sometimes RL happens and there is no time for all the things we want to do. Are you like me and want to thread all the things, but have no time to thread all the things? Perhaps you just want to know what your characters are doing off-screen, or the daily life details that don't need to be threaded out? That's where this meme comes in!

Option 001. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights, and sounds. Option 002. The Low-Gravity Gymnasium: The gym is a large room with several alcove-like sections housing the aerobics and martial arts areas, a parrises squares area, an anbo-jyutsu court, and a separate fencing room. Most noteworthy is the area dedicated for zero-gravity training.

Zero-gravity can be, well, kind of weird, because it's not like a gradual loss of the pressure holding you to the floor--you may have taken the turbolifts, just expecting to take a leisurely run, or maybe work out with a treadmill to get in some cardio, but the minute you step into the gym you're floating, as is anything you might have been holding or bringing with you.

What now? Panic, flail, and try to swim through the air back to where the gravity is normal? Do you make the best of it and tough it out to get your exercise in? Or, as we recommend, do you start having fun with the sudden game of weightlessness? Pick your personal scenario and have fun with all the other weightless people.

Boy, this is gonna make hitting the showers after your workout awkward...

If you, like me, are looking at the week ahead thinking about all you have left to get done before the start of February, perhaps it's time to sit down, take a deep breath, and ... mess around on the internet. :D? Today's Food For Thought is:

IC "Never Have I Ever..."
HOW TO PLAY:

1. Post an IC or anon comment finishing the statement "Never Have I Ever..." in the subject line. (example: "...SHOT A MAN IN RENO JUST TO WATCH HIM DIE," "...CHEAT ON THE SATS," "...FORGOTTEN MY MOTHER'S BIRTHDAY.")

It's another week, another meme. (Don't ask me what happened last week, I'm pretty sure I fell into a time vortex and disappeared from this mortal coil until just this moment. Good lord if the past week wasn't a bit of a blur.) Today's Food For Thought is:

Option 001. Battle Bridge:

Lucky you, you've ended up in one of those places you ought not to be.
The Battle Bridge is, to simplify, a second command room for the ship
in case of saucer separation. Fortunately the ship isn't in crisis
mode, and Q is smart enough to keep the controls in a locked and
neutral position. Ever wanted to pretend you're as cool as Picard or
as commanding as Riker? Now's your chance! Just don't get too cocky
- someone might hear you and give you the bum rush - after all this
usually isn't part of the usual tour...

Option 002. Ten Forward: You have no idea what just happened. One minute you were home, minding your own business, and now you're on a spaceship in the middle of a crowded room! It looks like a bar. There are people eating and drinking, some in uniform, others not. Some are clearly aliens, and some of the food is looking rather strange too.

You've managed to land in Ten Forward. A long bar with barstools and a bartender span one side of the room, with a bank of strange computers on that same wall. It looks like people are ordering food and drinks from them. Tables are sprinkled throughout, and the far wall is nothing but floor to ceiling windows with a view out to space. It looks like a nice lounge, low conversation making the room hum.

Better ask some questions and find out where you are, or just tap the closest person on the shoulder and try to make friends. The bar is open.

Good morning, everyone! After last week's headcanon meme, it started me thinking on muses and how they change and evolve as we play them. I've so enjoyed getting to know your muses that I wanted to do more of that this week... but with a twist! :O

IC Two Truths and a Lie.

Option 001. Trapped in a Turbolift: This space travel thing is new to you, and you're starting to think the ship is purposely out to get you. A turbolift is just a grandiose name for an elevator, which should be the safest way to travel after all! But someone out there is out to get you, you're sure of it. Because the next thing you know, the lights flicker and the lift grinds to a stop. You're trapped, with whomever was unlucky enough to be in the lift with you.

It could be hours before you're rescued. These turbolifts span the entire massive ship, and don't just travel straight up and down. No, they can travel horizontally, vertically, sometimes even diagonally. You could be stuck between any deck now. There is a small access panel on one of the smooth walls, but how good are you with getting these things to work? Let's not forget that sudden stop tossed everyone around a little, and people could be hurt. Time to put your emergency thinking cap on, and make friends with the people beside you fast. You could be the only way back to freedom.

Conversely, you could slide that pack of cards out of your pocket and start a rousing game of gin rummy. Really it's up to you.
