TEST DRIVE #15 - Holodeck and Ten Forward

001: Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

Open til next month's test drive!]

"Hmph, it doesn't feel that way, sometimes. Like events choose me, not the other way around. Still, there was Susan."

He smiles, nostalgically.

"But it usually turns out for the best. Ian and Barbara did well enough, after all."

He considers her question, looking thoughtful.

"I would suppose there would have to be, logically. Each universe will have its most advanced species - Time Lords, of sorts. Granted, they might not share our characteristics, for better and worse."

"Well, my boy, it's hardly surprising - this is technology centuries ahead of your own! Look!"

He walks over, tapping his cane on the nearest stone.

"This is merely light, projected light. Yet, it has form." He pushes it gently, and it does not move. "It has mass! What a miracle of science."

He looks up, and nods.

"ah, hello there. Tell me, are you...employed here?"

It never hurts to check, after all. She doesn't look hostile, far from it. And since she isn't in the process of warning others, screaming in alarm, running, or aiming a weapon, that ensures a more positive result.

"I may not always take you where you want to go. But I promise to always take you where you are most needed."

It's about the only promise she can make. Although, what she saw on Trezalore, she supposes she can promise to be with him unto the end.

"The descriptions of this 'Q' I have heard... He sounds a lot like a Time Lord. Or at least what Time Lords would be if they, as a society, ignored their practice of not interfering."

It is funny how some words can have just such an impact, although Padmé knows that. How many speeches has she given, letting the words flow from her heart. "... thank you, Master Yoda."

"That's a complicated answer." He doesn't even fully understand it himself, so isn't sure he can really explain it to her. Hopefully he can explain it enough to get her to someone who can explain it better. "Emma's here too, somewhere. We can find her, but there's something you need to know first."

"That works for me."

He keeps his hands in his pockets while he creeps around and listens to town gossip. Jadzia might have better luck hearing that the barn's owner is in a lot of financial trouble and, rather conveniently, the fire will be enough of an insurance payout to take care of that. Aidan, on the other hand, has nothing to gain other than the rumors hinting at an unhealthy love for things that burn. He definitely doesn't have any apparent relationships with women or men around here.

When the time's about up, he darts back towards Jadzia's house, but he's not fast enough. Someone notices him moving, grabs him by the back of the shirt, and smoothly wraps handcuffs around his narrow wrists. Well damn.

Emma couldn't help the smile that broke out accross her face at the sight of her mother. She had missed her so much. She wrapped her tightly in her arms, and buried her face in her shoulder. She had come to accept losing a lot of things, but Mary Margaret was among the few that she couldn't bear to lose again.

"What are you doing here? Wait scratch that. What's the last thing you remember?" Emma asked pulling away slightly.

Ten forward

Emma was sitting in Ten Forward enjoying a cup of tea, hoping it would soothe her stomach just a bit. The voice was familiar, and a smile broke out over Emma's face as she turned from the window.

"Dad"

The hug was warm and tight and held long enough to ensure that Emma knew this was a loving mother hug. But the question...that was not as warm. Mary Margaret pulled back, her hands remained on Emma's shoulders in a firm hold. "Ok, I get it. We made mistakes but I thought maybe we were past that. I thought you had forgiven us. Lily and Maleficent are reunited and I know I would never make a choice to separate a mother from her child again." She knew first hand how painful that was.

[personal profile] hopeisntafairytale 2015-10-06 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"What?" Her smile evaporated, she was used to that sort of delivery leading to dire news and if it involved her family she was not about to take it lightly.

Never!

"I think I can make the exception," She beamed a smile and crossed toward him. He was growing so fast, she hoped he wasn't too opposed to a hug from granny. "What are you doing here?"

"I wish it were." Perhaps he could be reasoned with, his dominant personality was intelligent and logical, if only she could...

No, of course that would have been too easy, she released a hiss of disappointment. "I told you, you were fracturing the time line. You risked the lives of untold numbers by rewriting history. I couldn't allow that to happen. I am sorry my friend, but I had to stop you."

"I don't think so, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that we do know each other, or had at some point. Would hardly be the oddest thing to happen to me. A forest, hm? Doesn't seem to be Gamma. Only one source of water there, and I can hear at least two. Ah well, I thought the Library would be the last forest I ever saw."

She pushed off the tree and extended a hand. "Professor River Song. Archeologist." She smirked. "Among other things."

She tapped the book against her lips, waiting for him to notice, as she smiled. "Early days indeed. No, I am not employed here, no more than you are, Doctor."

Because really, what fun is it seeing your husband almost a thousand years before he meets you, if you can't be a mystery to him, if you can't mess with his head. Blimey, though, to see him so young. That was something she had never expected. Well well well. Just one more little gift from time and space.

So much better than being dead. Or whatever it was she was being.

"I don't understand how," he said, shaking his head. "You can't touch light." But he did confirm for himself that the pyramid felt real. It felt exactly how he'd expect it to feel, too.

"It's nothing like that." He knows that protective-mother look she's got right now, having been on the receiving end of it in the past, as well as David's fatherly version of it. So some assurance is in order. "We're safe, and there's no threat. We're not actually in the Enchanted Forest. It's a -- " he waves his hand in the air while searching for the correct term, 'hologram' not being part of his vocabulary. "An illusion. A harmless one."

David tenses at the familiar voice but smiles when he sees that Emma looks like herself and not the Dark creature he'd be fighting. "Emma," he says, "it is so good to see you."

David beams and turns toward the sound of her voice."Snow come towards me and we can meet in the middle. There is something odd about this forest."

"Not ordinarily, no," he replies, hands going to his lapels.

"But if it is projected, perhaps in conjunction with some variation on deflector technology, it can be done. It seems they did it. Quite marvelous, really."

He takes a few steps forward.

"And do you notice - how large was this room when we entered?"
of_totters_lane: (dignity)

I will somehow live :P

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, you know me then, well well - that narrows down the possibilities."

Not all of them good. Traps are a thing that he encounters with fairly staggering regularity.

He stands tall, hands going to his lapels.

"You have the advantage of me - who are you, if I may ask?"
of_totters_lane: (oh not good)

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-08 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
He smiles, fondly, patting her arm.

"That is the greatest promise one can ever have. I am quite certain I can rely on you for that."

He listens, nodding, and then harumphing convincingly.

"Perhaps, but even if we - well, they - abandoned their indolence, they have too much respect for the timeline, or at least fear of punishment..."

He pauses.

"Or perhaps not." He was young...well, younger, once. Some defied the rules.

"But to draw beings here from multiple universes, and put them into one place, without immediate and irreparable damage to the fabric of time and space? That is far beyond even them."

And it is, frankly, worrisome. He's heard rumours of such beings. Stories. Guardians. If this is something on that scale...
cridhe: (sad)

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
She nods but frowns. "You... think...? But, Doctor, there are no such thing as 'gods'."

Well, she can't really believe he would believe that. But this is him when they first met. It is difficult to remember what he believed so long ago. And it's been so long since the proper Guardians have been a part of her life - well, there was the Shadow Proclamation, but it really wasn't the same.

"Yes, so you did. And then I was dead. So tell me,"

He grinned, darkly, with no humour in the movement whatsoever.

"Am I the ghoul at your feast? The dark spectre in this..." he gestured around them "land of plenty? Tell me, Helen. Am I the Ghost of Christmas Past?" The tone turned mocking. "Or perhaps Christmas Future. I never could keep track."

"I have heard of things close to Gods. Rumours of...Guardians. Things even the Time Lords couldn't understand, could not experience or quantify. And we are no longer even in that universe anymore. Who is to say what beings exist in this universe?"

He looks determined, nevertheless.

"Metaphorically or not, however, Gods have been known to fall."

Because the first and always thing with him is the challenging of unwarranted power.
