TEST DRIVE #15 - Holodeck and Ten Forward

001: Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

Open til next month's test drive!]

Matt moves his hand forward slowly until he touches skin and then he grips her hand. "That sounds like the lead singer from a bad 80's metal band," he jokes.

Thea held onto Matt's hand,"Sounds like a bad hair band but in reality is bad news." she mused. "League of Assassins ring any bells?" more shocked she was even talking about all of this to someone she just met.

The Master (Saxon AU version) | Doctor who

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-22 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He's come through the doors to Ten Forward, only to stop in his tracks. The Master hadn't counted on company. This much company. A motley assortment of different species, from, going by their clothing, different times.

Unless it's fancy dress!

Which, actually, on reflection is probably the last thing that might cheer the Master up at this point. Yes, he's only just found himself on a holodeck. Yes he's tried using his vortex manipulator, attempted to diagnose the problem, shaken the damn thing, cursed at it, pleaded with it, and come within a hair's breadth of stamping on it and obliterating its smug defiant existence.

He's stuck on this vessel, and it's chock-full of humans.

The Master leans against a supporting column in the dining area, where it seems to be less busy. His fingers absently tapetty-tapping on the column as he looks out at the stars. So this is third-class travel. He prefers the jarring of the vortex manipulator to what basically amounts to public transport. Without any temporal facility, whatsoever.

Hm. Still, could be worse. Getting stuck on early 21st century Earth can be a nuisance. That's what comes of being the ex Prime Minister of Britain.

Maybe he will have that drink.

"No sorry it doesn't," Matt says pulling himself up to his feet with an easy grace and pulling off the black cloth covering his face, His face is bruised and his red hair is mussed. He also is looking right at her and appears not to be blinking"not sure if we have that where I come from. We just have ninjas."

cridhe: (sad)

Oh this should be interesting! TARDIS AU XD

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-23 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Cridhe should have been able to sense him... After all he had done to her. She should have realised the potential for his arrival here. But, no, she couldn't. It's probably an effect of the ring. The Doctor had told her it had bio-dampening properties. 'For her protection' he had said. Now she understood what he meant.

Out of all the people she expected to find, the Master was the last of them. So many emotions surge through her. But perhaps she can have the tiniest bit of revenge. Oh, not to harm him physically. Not even to touch him. But just to make him very wary of her. And of the Doctor.

She approaches calmly. Giving no indication of who she is or the power she holds.

"You are worse than the Doctor when it comes to being a bad penny."

Indeed! =D

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-23 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Time Lords can usually detect the presence of others among their race. The Master, although still slightly muzzy from being dragged here has only just begun to realise he's not quite alone aboard this starship. He can almost smell the Doctor...

When he's approached by this female; the smell, the presence, feels closer still. The Master is aware enough to tell this isn't the Doctor in a very novel regeneration, but she's definitely more than human. Far beyond that. Something ancient, familiar, something that should be known to him, but there's uncertainty.

The Master swiftly assess her appearance. He notes the gloves, slightly unusual compared to her relatively casual garments. He only pays attention to the jewellery under the tight fabric, because of his own ring... which he wore for so long, but now no longer possesses, or needs. It was melted to nothing during the explosion that resulted in Lucy's meddling with his resurrection.

He doesn't betray it physically, but responds with an air of off-handed pique. “You might want to tell him on this occasion, the sentiment is mutual. One of his little friends I presume?” Let her think that's what he believes.

[ooc: Have genned up on her info, and whilst it doesn't seem to be her style, she is welcome to bitch-slap him at any point.]
cridhe: (smile)

She might - TARDIS has a temper, after all and he was less than kind XD

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-23 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She smiles. Let him believe whatever he likes. "I suppose, given my height, you could say that."

She leaves off that she's 'bigger on the inside.' That would end this game entirely too soon. She first wants to be the cat toying with the mouse. She tilts her head to consider him. All time lines are a little muddied for her, whether that's due to this place or the ring is anyone's guess, but the Master feels... a little off.

"You must have just arrived. Welcome to the Starship Enterprise."

Agreed! I always thought he'd have been pretty brutal. :O

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-23 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
“You are a bit of a shortarse.” He agrees, not in the most gentlemanly way, granted. The Master is perfectly capable of chivalry, only when it suits him. The bratty exterior however, hides the overriding thought.. who or what in the seven systems are you? Accompanied of course by the ever-present four-stroke beat.

“And god bless all who sail in her.” He snaps a look at the mystery woman, and her gloves. “Military, I'd say, but with the luxury of galactic peace. Scientific.. advanced enough for the era. Hilarious uniforms. Join the space navy and wear your pyjamas all day! Delighted to make your acquaintance. This is going to be too much fun.”
cridhe: (wistful)

I am a cruel and heartless mun who has the whole thing written up in detail :(

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-23 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that is one way to look at it. "Well at least they are comfortable. And it blends in a bit more when visiting different planets. They are a scientific expedition exploring space. And peace has always been relative. I am certain you thought you brought peace to Earth."

Sometimes we need to do these terrible things.

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-23 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nothing the Doctor couldn’t have told her, the Master is thinking. She may not be human, but she wasn't on the Valiant, couldn't have been part of events.

“What I took to that pitiful little backwater was to be a new start for the Time Lord race. I had no fancy-fancy ideals about peace on Earth. They were the means to an end. To be used. Stupid apes. ...Who are you? Apart from being some kind of bacteriophobe.”
cridhe: (proud)

It builds character - pun intended.

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-23 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, my. Was that a button she had pressed? She is almost amused. Almost. "That is very strange indeed. Because I had the distinct impression that you wanted to destroy the beings that the Doctor cherished. No different than has been the case all of your lifetimes."

She looks down at her clothing, then up into his eyes. She steps closer, with a hint of a threat in her eyes. Impressive for someone so short. "These garments are not to protect me. They are to protect you."

<3

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-23 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a jolly little side effect.” The Master is not one given to whining or feeling sorry for himself. He moves on. There’s always something else. Something to do. Fun to have. In that respect he's very like the Doctor. It's not for nothing they were once close friends. However, his intention to build a new Gallifrey had been heart's-felt. Despite the insanity.

He's the Master. And not entirely in possession of all his faculties. He doesn't back down to a pint-sized ..whatever she is. “Ooh! Scary. What are you going to do? Chinese burn?”
cridhe: (vulnerable)

Erm maybe not slap, but perhaps a bit of a psychic blast, if okay? since he asked?

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-23 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"If that had only been a side-effect, then there was no need for what you did to... me... The TARDIS."

But then there was his query. "I could show you, if you would like? Show you why you require protection from me?"

She slowly removes her glove as she speaks. She has no idea if the power of the ring can override the power of her fury for what this hateful creature did to her. Though, she suspects she would be unable to kill him. No matter. She would accept a simple maiming. And the Doctor is not around to stop her. How convenient.

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-23 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
He chuckled at that.

"Ah, such an accurate summation of humanity. They do try, though, and we must help them strive, when we can."

He nods at that last, which makes sense. In another universe, even her vaunted powers of translation would carry only limited weight, at best. Even then it would be extrapolation from similar languages.

"Well, we shall see, certainly. My dear, direct me to the nearest console, hmm?"
of_totters_lane: (Default)

Oh gosh we've started a First Doctor adventure and it is *wonderful*

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-23 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm surprised it worked at all," he replied, taking a careful step towards the pyramid.

"Hrm. Perhaps we are required to finish the program in order to exit. Until we can figure out the proper commands to terminate it early, at any rate."

This was all very familiar, if holographic. Though at this stage, he'd be not at all surprised to see Barbara Wright as Nefertiti, enthroned and giving orders.

Well. Nothing for it then. "Well then, we'd best get to it."

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-23 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He nodded, then strode off again - with no clear idea where he was going, but in all his lives that mere accident of fact was never going to stop him.

"Very well, then. Do keep up."

[personal profile] tesla_vampiris 2015-10-24 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Steve Jobs. What a brilliant, flawed ass. At least, that was Tesla's summation. Odd how familiar a description it really was.

"Seems that way," he said, then settled in to listen, with a great deal of amusement. Finally, when the robot was done talking, his face split into a grin.

"Well, isn't this a turn of events. Good to know I keep up the old firm in alternate realities, as it were. And let me see..." he leans forward for a moment, looking at his - well, the other his - creation.

"At a guess," he said, slowly, "I'd say...1923? 24? Back when that jackass Edison was still causing me trouble. I'd have to take a closer work at his - well, my, sort of - handiwork to be sure, but you'll hardly let any Tesla take a look at your innards."

He leaned back, taking a lingering sip of wine.

"And you took the name. Oh I like you. I suppose the morphic resonance people would have a field day with that. Anyways, for me, it's the early twenty-teens. A thoroughly underwhelming decade thus far."
cridhe: (proud)

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-24 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
She offers a smug smile. Then she shows him the PADD.

"It is voice activated, therefore I did not need to worry about the strange symbols."

She offers it to him.

"It will tell you many things. Not everything, but a lot of information is loaded into it."

The strange symbols are mostly English. She should know them, shouldn't she?
professorsong: (Spoilers)

[personal profile] professorsong 2015-10-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded, doing just that. "I will always do my best to keep up with you," she said. The word sweetie danced on her lips, but never escaped them. She'd run with the Doctor too long to be that careless. Blimey he was young, though. It showed the most in his eyes. Such young eyes, so unburdened.

And she realized that this might be the first chance she's ever had to be with the Doctor that wasn't either the occasion of her death, or after he knew how and when she would die. His eyes had looked young in the Library too; and it saddened her to think she was to blame for some of the weariness in him that made him seem so much older.

"So?" she asked, shaking her hair, to shake off any melancholy before the Doctor could become aware of it. "Where to?" my love

His smile is one filled with pride.

"Ah, very clever indeed. Excellent." He puts on his spectacles - not that he ever needed them, even in this incarnation - and frowns in concentration.

"Well, the language sounds like our English, but in written form it appears to be more a of a pastiche. What year is it supposed to be here?"
of_totters_lane: (Default)

[personal profile] of_totters_lane 2015-10-24 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thankfully for her efforts, he was concentrated on the environment around them. He pointed with his cane.

"This way, I should think. And you can begin by telling me everything you know about this place, hmm?"

And he was off again, a certain subtle spring in his step. Old he may look, and old in this body he may be - but the Doctor was always the Doctor.

Just more or less crotchety depending on incarnation.

[personal profile] cridhe 2015-10-24 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"It is like our English, near as I can tell. Also French, German, Russian, Italian, Spanish, along with all the other major world languages and many cultural dialects as well."

It doesn't mean she can read.

"It is the twenty-fourth century."
professorsong: (To save his break yours)

[personal profile] professorsong 2015-10-24 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Now, if I had it, that would be information I could give you," she said, though she sounded more amused than disappointed. Then she grinned, a bit of a reckless thing, really. "This place is a mystery to us both."

Ohyuss. Go for it.

[personal profile] paradoxlost 2015-10-24 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Any semi-intelligent fool would be a tad wary after she's spoken again. The Master didn't get where he is today without being careful, as well as curious. If this is a warning, chances are she won't kill him - if she has that power. But there's definitely the Doctor's scent, and his presence. Perhaps she does.

He needs to know. One thing he already knows, the Doctor won't sanction murder. That's another lesson well-learned from 'the Valiant' days. “Very well. Though it wouldn't do to make an enemy of me. Maybe you should bear that in mind.”
cridhe: (wistful)

She tilts her head and considers him. He's far too eager. Which she finds confusing. She hesitates, not from her own convictions, but because of him. Very well, she'll toy with him a bit more. Besides. The Doctor would not approve of her taking the offensive. But, if she could trick him into touching her, well. That's another matter entirely.

She had learned things on the Valiant as well. She had learned things as he tore her apart to create the Paradox Machine. She knows far more than she should. And perhaps pushing certain buttons might work. She keeps her voice light and amused.

"Enemies? Oh, you silly little Time Lord. We went well beyond enemies ages ago."

He was always seeking to kidnap her from her pilot, seeking to harm her in his efforts to command then Universe. Now her voice takes on a quality of malice.

"But one thing I remember. Under all your bravado: you were always so scared. Hidden behind your cruelty was always the current of fear. Aren't you just the little bit scared now?"
