TEST DRIVE #15 - Holodeck and Ten Forward

001: Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

There is someone hugging him from behind.

A familiar someone, if a little bit lighter, less filled out than the usual someone.

"Hi!"

At first the angel goes somewhat rigid, having been accosted by all the wrong sorts of alien all over the damned cosmos at some time or another.

But the scent.... the essential musky maleness of this individual is never forgotten. Phoenix turn his head, one arm instinctively moving around to explore the newcomer's shoulder.

"Alec!" The angel instantly relaxes. "What the shit?" It's said in a far more friendly way than it usually sounds.

"Hi you," Alec said putting his chin on Phoenix's shoulder. "What sort of shit are we talking about? Because there's a lot of possible shit."

He's still not let go of him.

"Well, turn 'round so I can reach you."

Phoenix attempts to wriggle a bit, so he can embrace Alec properly. "Isn't there always shit of some description when you're involved?"

He swings around enough that they can hug properly. Alec's a bit shorter than Phoenix currently, but that's okay. Hugging is still possible.

"Yes, I suppose so, but this time it's not my fault."

Because the universe is built on hugs. Phoenix holds Alec for a bit, he hasn't seen him for a while, in any guise and it's nice. After a few seconds, he moves back a little, hands resting on Alec's shoulders.

"You say that every single time." He admonishes gently, rubbing Alec's lower jaw with a thumb.

He tilts into it, because he's missed Phoenix too. Both of him... which is confusing, but it makes sense in his life. It's just nice to feel him again. Or be felt by him again.

"This time it's true. It's Q's fault." See. Totally not his fault.

From the angel's perspective, it's both wonderful and really odd to see Alec again. This is not the Alec he's used to, but it's the Alec he's loved, so he doesn't care... other than noticing he's feeling a little more like an Alpha already.

The idea is somehow nice.

Until Alec fills him in.

"Oh Gods. Not the fucking Q continuum." He groans.

Alec is Alec.

No matter how old he is.

And Phoenix is Phoenix and that's all that matters.

"Well, just the one Q. It's his idea of a practical joke on Picard." Alec patted him on the cheek. "It'll be alright."

Perhaps Phoenix needs a little youth injected into his life again.

"Can't you make him go away?" The angel isn't sure he's really discussed his feeling about the Q, with Alec. Maybe he will at some point.

"I mean.." He looks around him. "..this is actually the Enterprise.. isn't it?"

"Theoretically speaking I could, but I'm not allowed to and in this case his powers are trumping mine because of Reasons."

They've never discussed the Q as far as Alec can remember, either of him. But Alec does have a history with the Q as well. In some very interesting ways.

He reaches a hand down to grab Phoenix's in an effort to keep some physical contact with the other man.

"But yeah, this is really the actual Enterprise."

"Hnh." Phoenix nods sagely. Over the centuries he's come to accept Reasons. Not that he's happy about being anywhere near a Q. He consoles himself with the fact that he's not nearly important enough for Q to actually bother torturing him.

He takes Alec's hand and squeezes it, before draping an arm around his adored one's shoulders.

"Wow." The ship is legendary all over the cosmos, and a list of Enterprise captains exist in the memories of immortal beings. "I could only be more marginally impressed if I were on the TARDIS."

"I know. I know. It's a bit of a cop out..."

He's a bit pleased with himself at least. Or at least pleased with Phoenix. Possibly pleased in general. Whatever it is, he's feeling much happier than he has been in a long time.

"Actually there is a TARDIS here... at least two... though one's a bit on the funky side." There's a grin at Phoenix.

"Hey.." He squeezes Alec's shoulders gently. "When have I ever accused you of that?" Phoenix does pause to wonder if Alec has any memory of his future self and whether or not he should be careful what he says.

"Gods what I wouldn't give to get on one of those... even the funky one."

Oh, yes. Alec has memories of his future self. And would give Phoenix a funny look if he actually tried to be careful about Alec's timeline on the grounds of 'it's not a time line, it's a time knot'.

"It's a bit more of my own frustrations really."

And then Alec's expression goes completely strange as he mental images something. "I think she might punch you in the face if you tried that one."

At least he didn't say in...

All desire to reassure and pet Alec re the frustrations are forgotten at the last statement... Which is slightly confusing until the penny drops.

"Hey, it's not like I never had sex with a machine." He smirks. "Okay.. maybe not a sentient one. But for once that's not what I meant."

"I know that! But that doesn't stop the mental imagery." He waved an annoyed hand.

Having a very vivid imagination can be detrimental to one's mental health at times.

"You should just roll with it." Phoenix suggests helpfully.

Or not.

"I am not rolling with this mental imagery. There's other mental imagery that I'd rather roll with."

Nope. Not at all helpful.

"Prude." Phoenix can't help wondering what his chances with the TARDIS might be. Slim to zero most likely.

"C'mon. Give us smile." Perhaps a little charm and a nuzzle will help?

"I'm not a prude I'm just..."

Easily distracted by nuzzling Phoenixes because he does derail completely into a bit of a giggle.

Quite taken with this younger version of his lifelong partner, Phoenix grins against Alec's cheek, ignoring any look they might be getting, and teasingly goes for the ear... And we all know what that does.

Too soon the angel pulls his head back. Delighted with himself.

Alec has completely slouched against Phoenix at the end of that, using him as something to hold himself up.

"Mean..." Though if it's because he stopped or did it in the first place or whatever it's hard to say.

A part of him suggests that he should probably straighten up and stop acting like a teenager on his first crush. It's a very annoying thought. Especially since he likes leaning up against Phoenix.

"Not mean. Just figuring out how to uh, handle you."

Phoenix grins. 'Handling' Alec is never going to happen unless Alec happens to like it.

He's also enjoying that there teenage crush thing. Having recently turned 900 and having gotten used to being a beta, Phoenix is considering how much younger Alec might make him feel; and at the same time wondering how much of an Alpha the younger immortal will let him be.

And because that's an opening he can't really resist he pulls away enough so that Phoenix can see the massive cat grin on his face and said, "Any way you want."

Then he slips away from the angel's grasp and, still grinning, saunters off to a table.

Considering Alec isn't as emotionally mature (for a given value of emotionally mature) as his older self, it's possible he'll let Phoenix do so. Though Alec has his own worries of not wanting to be too clingy. He's just missed Phoenix so much right then that it's kind of hard for him to think straight.
