TEST DRIVE #16 - Turbolifts and Ten Forward

Option 001. Trapped in a Turbolift: This space travel thing is new to you, and you're starting to think the ship is purposely out to get you. A turbolift is just a grandiose name for an elevator, which should be the safest way to travel after all! But someone out there is out to get you, you're sure of it. Because the next thing you know, the lights flicker and the lift grinds to a stop. You're trapped, with whomever was unlucky enough to be in the lift with you.

It could be hours before you're rescued. These turbolifts span the entire massive ship, and don't just travel straight up and down. No, they can travel horizontally, vertically, sometimes even diagonally. You could be stuck between any deck now. There is a small access panel on one of the smooth walls, but how good are you with getting these things to work? Let's not forget that sudden stop tossed everyone around a little, and people could be hurt. Time to put your emergency thinking cap on, and make friends with the people beside you fast. You could be the only way back to freedom.

Conversely, you could slide that pack of cards out of your pocket and start a rousing game of gin rummy. Really it's up to you.

Option 002. Ten Forward: You have no idea what just happened. One minute you were home, minding your own business, and now you're on a spaceship in the middle of a crowded room! It looks like a bar. There are people eating and drinking, some in uniform, others not. Some are clearly aliens, and some of the food is looking rather strange too.

You've managed to land in Ten Forward. A long bar with barstools and a bartender span one side of the room, with a bank of strange computers on that same wall. It looks like people are ordering food and drinks from them. Tables are sprinkled throughout, and the far wall is nothing but floor to ceiling windows with a view out to space. It looks like a nice lounge, low conversation making the room hum.

Better ask some questions and find out where you are, or just tap the closest person on the shoulder and try to make friends. The bar is open.

She looked to the dingbot. "Find the parts?" she asked it. It saluted and dropped down. Several more dingbots of assorted shapes and configurations came over from various hiding places, to help look. "Without taking them apart!" she called after the dingbot army. Then she turned back to Ed.

"Honestly not sure, I was asleep when I built him. If we can't find the parts, I'm sure we could build you new ones."

Hello, Son

[personal profile] nosmallfry 2016-01-08 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
He looked up from his meal. Something had shivered through the Force. Something strong. Something near. He set down his fork and stood. It hadn't felt like Master Obi Wan. He moved towards the disturbance cautiously, one hand fluttering near to his lightsaber.

He stopped when he saw Luke, confused. From the boy's age, and the feel of the Force about him, he'd have presumed this to be a padawan, as he himself had so recently been. But no braid marked him, nor did he bear the proper robes of a student.

The thought that this young man was at the same rank that Anakin was rankled. It was unpleasant. Perhaps Palpatine was right. The Jedi council was trying to keep him down. He knew they had not wished him to be trained, and now this?

He felt anger, yes. But not at this boy. At the Masters who sat on high and excluded him at every turn, denied him his rightful place among them. But they were not here, and this lad was. This lad who somehow... Somehow reminded him almost... of Padmè. He wasn't aware of her having a brother, that was the sort of thing that she would have told him, wasn't it?

He didn't quite realize yet that he was staring.
nosmallfry: (I love her)

Anakin Skywalker | In the lounge | With the Force.

This... was not Coruscant... He had been waiting to meet Padmè for dinner. It wasn't subtle, perhaps, wasn't secretive, but he was tired of hiding. He didn't see why it was so wrong to love her. After all, weren't the Jedi supposed to love, to care for everyone? His good friend Palpatine had suggested this restaurant, for the discretion, understanding Padmè's concerns, and Anakin's desire to honor them, even if he thought this hiding about was foolish.

But this looked nothing like the restaurant that had been described to him. No matter. He was certain this was the right place, he had followed Palpatine's directions precisely. He was of course a little early. But he had had so much fun flying there, that he was more than happy to wait for her. He chose a seat where he could see the door, and sat down to do just that.

It's completely different than with meeting Luke. With him there had been this vague sense of familiarity, a brief and fleeting moment where she just knew.....something. She still doesn't know what it was that struck her so instantly, but it had been there at least. With the man sitting alone, there's definitely an instant moment, it's just not the same. She doesn't know what it is that links her to either of them, not yet, but it definitely freaks Rey out.

Not enough that she doesn't want to investigate, of course, so she fetches another drink (only the maker knows what's in these things, but the details aren't important) and sets it down in front of him before taking the other seat. Time to try again.

"Do you know Jakku?" she asks without greeting or preamble, intently focused on Anakin and whatever....thing it is that she's feeling.
nosmallfry: (You're really going to make me say it?)

[personal profile] nosmallfry 2016-01-08 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
Whoever this girl was, she wasn't Padmè, so her presence irritated him. Someone could get the wrong idea; Padmè could get the wrong idea. He felt a sense of the Force around her, and stifled a groan, barely. She didn't dress like a padawan; did she think that was enough to fool him?

"I'm not taking on students," he informed her flatly, aware he was being blunt. Doubtless, she would go whining to Master Windu, and he'd get an earful later about behavior unbecoming of a Jedi. That was later, though. Now it would be worth it to get rid of her before anyone saw them together.

Of course, now he was thinking about students. Would the stuffy council let him teach, or keep insisting that he wasn't ready yet? He would ask Padmè and Palpatine what they thought. He might ask JarJar too, and just do the opposite.

"Students?" The irritation doesn't surprise her - who really likes being interrupted by strangers - but his response clearly does. "Are you a teacher? That's not what I'm looking for. Do you know Jakku? Have you been to the Niima Outpost?"

Obviously the only way forward is to repeat her question, a little slower, as if that will somehow help him understand her and vice versa. She doesn't understand this vague familiarity that comes with recognising another Force-sensitive, and simply thinks he must have visited the outpost - or maybe he'd been in Maz's bar and she just hadn't realised that she'd seen that face. There had to be a reasonable, non-magical balancing power that fuels the fight of good and evi explanation. The Jedi weren't real, those lightsaber visions hadn't been real. There was a reasonable explanation for all of this weirdness, she just had to find it.

He raised his brows slightly, certain he was being mocked, but well, it wasn't like there was anything better to do in the turbolift. "I would say make war or peace, how would you define with?" He chuckled. "Although I wouldn't say there is so much of a difference between war and peace in diplomacy. War is nothing but the most aggressive form of negotiation."

Speaking of the First Order... here's a familiar looking face. Admittedly he's a bit ... the hair is longer and he's not as military neat looking, slightly slouched, wearing clothes other than black ... but he's got a black cat on his shoulder. So that's black, right?

He's walking in Poe's direction, PADD in one hand and coffee in the other so not really paying attention to where he's going.

Yes, he was certainly getting irritated now. He spied an unattended decanter of water on the bar and reached for it, using the Force to bring it to his hand. Master Obi Wan would be irritated with him if he saw that, but if Master Obi Wan were here, he could have foisted this youngling off on him.

"I have never been to the Niima Outpost, and I do not know who, what, or where Jakku is. Did you need help finding your way back to the Temple?" he asked, a bit acidly. He might have been kinder, in fact, he probably would have been, if he wasn't afraid of this becoming a problem for him and Padmè. He would do anything to protect her, from anything. Even the pain of a misunderstanding.

Of course, if this was the Council trying to break things up between them, if they thought it was a good idea to hurt her to break his attachment... well then... he would have more than just things to say to whoever was involved.

Wesley nodded, and smiled, following her. "Yes, well, I don't know when you come from?" He wasn't sure at all, really. Things were shifting here, and he felt like he was walking, or standing, on unsteady decking. He swallowed as he followed her, worried now. He would never hide from her, but what if he messed things up talking to her. Did she even know about... no, he forced himself not to start down that path. He had to keep it together.

He had attended the Temporal Incidents class, after all. He knew what he had to do, and what he would ignore of the rules.

There were things that had to happen, and things he could not stand to let happen. But he had to plan, and think, and figure out how to wend the road of bending time. If it hadn't already been broken by Q.

He stepped into her quarters and feelings rushed into him, comfort and warmth and love, and a feeling of belonging, yet disjointed. Even here, he felt distant. Damn it.

He shifted, settled opposite her, rose, then shifted again. "Ah... Yes. in time for the..." He cut himself off. He managed a grin that turned genuine as he looked at her. God, she still looked amazing, His mom! He felt himself grinning wider, feeling bouncier. He had no clue why he was here, but he'd take it.

"Managed to make it home for Christmas this year, even."

Wesley stumbled back, took one look and goggled.

No way. No freaking way. Ro Laren? As a kid again? Damn. That was... well, kind of creepy anyway. He had thought she was pretty hot at least once during that whole time period, even though he hadn't known her hardly at all. He had been away at the Academy, and she had come on while he was gone. Nonetheless, he had met her a few times, and the sense of dangerous beauty had made for some interesting first impressions.

"Ensign Ro?" Damn it, he should be finding a place to be, not being here...

Luke was confused by the actions and reactions of both of these people. The woman drew him, but he also could sense the man, in a weird way, as someone or something Else. Unsure what else to do, he stepped close to the woman, and when she spoke again, he flushed again.

"No, I mean... just Luke. I'm not a prince, really. I'm just a pilot, and maybe someday a Jedi." He reluctantly spoke the words, not wanting to contradict her, or to have her decide he wasn't worth her time. He somehow knew he should be around her, that he needed to be around her, even as he had no idea why.

"My what--?" But he nodded, anyway. "Sure. Some answers would be good, please." Man, at least she seemed very certain. She reminded him of Leia, in a way.But more... intense. He had the urge to stretch out his senses, as he had begun to learn to do from Ben, and to see if he could sense more of her, and of the strange connection between them...
usedtobullseyewomprats: (Uhm)

The man sitting and staring made Luke twitch. Especially since the man was... weird. He felt odd, different, even. And now that he saw him, Luke knew the pulse had come from his direction. He had to get some answers!

Firming his resolve, Luke not-quite-marched over to the other man. "Uhm are you okay? Are you a Jedi?" Okay, well, he had not meant to lead with that, or ask that, even, but there it was.

The woman herself doesn't draw too much of his attention (other than the daggers; they're a bit old-fashioned. Even the outer rim planets have blasters), but the creature staring him down does. It's unlike anything he's ever seen before, although obviously reptilian. It must be one of the species he's not familiar with yet.

"Is that...yours?"
resistancepilot: (prepping to fly)

He doesn't know what started the commotion, but he does see the girl darting around in the middle of it. He doesn't know who she is, either, or have any idea that she's the one Finn organized the rescue mission to find. She's quick on her feet though, and probably good in a fight. Information that he stores away in case it's ever needed.

"I am. The best in the resistance." It's not bragging. It's a fact, the one that caused him to be selected to go after the information that could lead General Organa to Luke Skywalker. A fact that even Kylo Ren had picked up from somewhere.

There's a couple, probably related by the looks of it, who wouldn't be out of place in his galaxy. The game's not one he's familiar with, but he knows even less about the games of non-human species than he does about the species. He doesn't play a lot of games during his downtime for the resistance. He doesn't even have a lot of downtime.

If they're communicating silently, that sounds like it could be possible, with what he knows of the Force. Not that he's seen many personal demonstrations of it.

He's not sure he should interrupt, so he'll just be watching them while keeping an eye out for someone who looks familiar.

If Chris didn't know better, he would have thought he was in hell. But, he did know better. He'd been there, and with all its permutations, it never looked like this. He was pretty sure that someone in this universe had a twisted sense of humor though. He was just starting to relax, enjoy himself. For almost the first time in his life.

And then? Whoever this guy was, he reminded him waaaay to much of his brother. He had the same arrogant way about him.

And he was blonde.

Okay, so this could be a problem. Admittedly, it is a little strange to see Hux this way, but if the resistance can sneak around and have spies somewhere, then it makes sense that the First Order would too. He just wouldn't have expected Hux to do it personally.

He hasn't got a weapon of any sort, which hopefully won't be a problem. Someone here must have one, anyway, if it turns out to be necessary.

He keeps his head down until Hux passes by him, then waits a few seconds and follows quietly after him, intending to do a little reconnaissance.

She almost snapped at him again, then what he called her sunk in. He knew who she was. Whoever this was acknowledged her rank. Didn't just see her as a child playing dress up.

She smoothed her uniform down carefully, as she looked up at him. Her brows creased as she frowned. "You look familiar," she said, trying to figure out why.

She led them to a table and sat, Theiorn taking one of the seats beside her, leaving him the choice to sit at her other side, or to sit at his other side which would leave Luke across from her.

She waited until he sat. "Prince is a caste, a rank, or title, however you wish to see it. It is a formal mode of address," she told him, simply, "just as I am a Queen by caste." She gave him a small smile. "Perhaps when I am done answering your questions, you would explain to me what a pilot is, and what a jedi is?" she asked. Then she moved on. She was being nice to a male she just met, and it was freaking her out some.

"Ask your questions, we will do our best to answer."

"I am a Jedi, yes, and I am alright," that last was a lie. He should be known. How could this young should-be-padawan be here, be a full fledged Jedi, and not know who he was? Pain there, pain and anger. He wished Padmè would arrive already, he needed to be with someone who actually cared about him.

"Who is your master?" he asked him, wanting to know what Jedi specifically had decided to slight him this way.

The dragon-thing made a chittering noise at them.

The woman finally looked up, her gold eyes irritated. "Help me test this variation, Prince," she said, coldly to Theiorn.

"Not a chance," eh said simply. "I know better than to play cradle with you."

Her eyes flashed with ire and she looked around. She spotted Poe and her temper sparked up again. "I suppose you're too afraid to play a game with me as well?" she asked, acid in her tone.

He saw the man staring at him, felt something odd in the Force around him. Something he couldn't identify. Not a Jedi for sure. Did that mean this was a Sith? If he found and defeated a Sith Lord, would they finally acknowledge his skill and ability? Perhaps.

He stood and strode over, one hand sliding his light saber free of his hip as he approached.

"Do you have a problem with me?" he asked, his voice cold. He wanted the other man to start something, to be a Sith and start something, then they'd all see who Anakin truly was, a hero.
