Food For Thought [Meme Mondays!]

Greetings and Salutations!

Monday morning is upon us once again, woe. But that means it's time for a new meme to get us through the week, yay! So push that pile of paperwork to the side, pour yourself a coffee or tea, and prepare to get meta with me.

For this week's Food For Thought, I want to know: Your character's shuttle crash lands on an alien planet with no way back to the Enterprise. You're able to salvage one item from the wreckage. What is that item, and what's the first thing you do? Make friends with the locals? Stage an evil uprising? Find out which local animals are the tastiest?

I for one welcome our new Enterprise overlords.

You mean you're not allowed to cheat? What sort of stupid rule is that?

All of my guys demand to see this rule written down. (Not that they're going to pay attention to it, mind you.)
oldgirl: (Thing TARDIS)

I don't normally post from this account, but it seemed right. This is J XD

[Amy, the TARDIS thinks:]

I was only small that one time! It was against my will and it was less than a pleasant experience. Thank you so much for the lovely reminder.

[Someone has been travelling with the Doctor far too long an has picked up some of his less admirable personality traits.]

It wasn't a pretty face... moving on now.

((I almost app'd with her but with 3 other boxes here and no one having access, she would have reacted BADLY, hence I went with Cridhe instead.))
not_the_question: The Pilot (take this)

Weeeeel, yeah, how could I not?

Harumph

I wanted an icon of the had, but Clara was right it was just wrong, unless you knew the reasons for it.
oldgirl: I still can't believe that Wee Blue is canon now! (Wee Blue)

Glad I could cheer you up.

And HAND not had ugh... I need more sleep.

This one I had commissioned by a friend when we were doing some epic "Incredible Shrinking TARDIS plots"... And I SWEAR that Doctor Who writers know all my handles and stalk me on the internet for ideas :| I did this back in like 2009-2010.
not_the_question: The Pilot (pleased)

Twelfth Doctor Assuming everything on his person doesn't need to be salvaged, since he is already salvageable - well there are several options. He would make sure everyone was safe. "I'm the Doctor and I save people!" If people don't need saving, his one item would be... whatever bits of technology from the ship he can - then he could find a way to build communications. As far as the Natives, he'd probably establish himself as some sort of leader - but not one in 'power'. Because it's just easier for him to do it that way.

Cridhe (TARDIS AU) She would make sure everyone was safe and then being the practical sort, she would probably grab the first-aid kit. Then she would learn as much about local life as possible. Make friends with them. Once she has them convinced of how good she is, she would undermine the whole operation in order to find a way to contact the Enterprise and get back.

Kale The shuttle.

What?

He's a mechanic. He's going to damn well fix that shuttle. And let Trever take care of the rest of the stuff.

Fine. If he doesn't have Trever/able to fix the shuttle, it'll be a knife/weapon of some sort (not a gun though cause those run out of ammunition) and go checking out the landscape to find water and shelter first. Then food. Then going back to the wreckage and figuring out how to fix the damn shuttle and the fact that if there's going to be a rescue they'll probably be heading towards the shuttle. If he can't leave signs to where he is staying for people to follow.

Trever Veena... and if Veena doesn't count, a knife/weapon of some sort. Let Kale take care of repairing the shuttle. If there is no Kale then go check out the landscape to find water and shelter first. Then food. Stay as near the wreckage as possible because if they're going to send a rescue that's where they're going to go. If not then leaving signs to show where he went.

Alec bitch, moan, complain, go stalking off somewhere to find something interesting to happen to him.

If something is keeping him on the planet so that he can't teleport off you damn well bet he's going to complain his head off.

And Alec would be someone Picard would want to stick near out of sheer necessity because he could create water/shelter/food. Annoying twit, but useful twit. At least he won't sing.

Trip has already done this in canon - they didn't use the transporters much at first, so crashed shuttle was a staple plot. He'd take the communications panel and some tools (if that's cheating, then the tools were totally already in his pocket). He'd fix it, call Enterprise and get rescued. While befriending the locals. Even if they're not friendly.

Cat would save his clothes. If he only had what he was wearing then he'd get the gun. Or the stick with string stuck to it, if he got distracted. He'd confuse the locals by demanding to be fed and then falling asleep.

Bob: Something to keep a diary on, explores, meddles in people's lives and generally becomes a legend. Being a ghost, he doesn't eat.

Chang: Something weapony, I suppose. Sharp, at least. He goes for a hunt, hangs out. Doesn't really make friends, but doesn't bother folk either. He aims for the biggest beast he can find.

Assuming he's alone and he doesn't have to help rescue anyone in the wreckage, he'd probably just get out and explore. If he took anything at all, it might be food rations. He'd just be thrilled to be on a planet, as his seal would replenish the natural energy he's used during his time on the Enterprise. He'd probably stay for a little while and then eventually reverse summon himself home to Ryuuchi Cave.

He's far too easy going to be bothered by something like a shuttle crash!

Sam is /thrilled/. This is like back to old times. Dropped in the wilderness with nothing but a knife - because, yeah, grabbing her knives, or a knife if the rules are being specific - and going wandering.
Eventually, going and checking out the native culture, but the first thing is just doing a bit of a walkabout and figuring out how to meet the requirements of survival.

Wait for rescue, what? No. This could keep Sam entertained for at least months.

Not minding a bit. These should, of course, happen. Because, really - what is 'oh fuck, we're lost in the middle of nowhere' to most people is 'I remember this place' to Sam.

Grainne would try to salvage a PADD or something for reading material because she'd just wait by the crash for someone to pick her up, and it'll probably be a long boring wait.
